It all began on a dull, and mundane day. The wind was as strong as an ox. The leaves on the tree was ruffling and they looked like they were dancing to the wind. Dark clouds started to form in the sky, covering the beautiful blue sky that I have always love to look at. Ah, yes, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Isiah. Weird name you might ask, but all I know is my name and nothing of my life. Who I am, my family or friends, i’m clueless. Amidst of all that is happening outside of my window, a big change is going to happen to me. It has actually, and let me tell you, my life has never been the same.
Let me tell you more about myself. I am tanned, with a golden-brown shade tone skin. Straight jet black hair combed neatly and always dressed casual. Tshirt and pants, definitely my favourite dressing style. My eyes have a shade of brown, like hazelnut. With an average-build body and 5′6″ tall, i’m not that great in fights. Running is my forté, but running away from problems is definitely not my thing. I’ll fight and have solved every challenge or problems I face. Now let me tell you what happened to me.
One calm and cool night, I dreamt of being chased by a group of people unknown to me. They were shrouded in the shadows and knowing who they are or why they are chasing me remains a mystery. I woke up in cold sweat. Perspiring non-stop, even though the air-conditioning in my room was on. I laid back down on my bed, shifted my body to the right and stared out of my window, looking at the starless night sky. Only the crescent moon was shining brightly. It looked magnificent to me. My mind drifted and I fell back to sleep.
“What a nightmare!”, I thought, as i stood up from my bed and headed for the shower. “It seems so surreal but then again it felt like reality itself!” Ignoring the nightmare I had last night, I turned on the shower. The warm water hit my skin and against the cool atmosphere in my room and toilet, it felt good and refreshing. A few minutes later, i went out of the shower, dried myself with the soft towel, wiping every single wet spot on my body. I took out my clothes from my closet and wore them. I turned my head to look out of the window and noticed the sky beginning to turned dark.
“Shit! There goes my plan!”, I mumbled to myself, as i walked out of my room, down the stairs and into the kitchen. The house was empty. My surrogate mom left a note on the dining table, “Lunch is in the microwave. See you at home. Love Rachel. xx” I opened the microwave and saw a packet. I unwrapped the packet and saw my favourite dish. The heaveanly aroma, the scrumptious taste of the food in my mouth. I love it. I looked up at the clock on the wall, and it showed 3.30pm. The skies outside are darkening, thunder could be heard from far away. I dragged my feet across the floor towards the living room, feeling bummed that my plans to go out for a cycle had to be cancelled. I picked up the phone and dialled my best friend, Shawna. Ring, Ring went the dialler, and about 30 seconds later Shawna answered. So I thought.
“Hey Shawna!” I shouted to the phone, knowing she would freak out. But only a silent answer I received.
“You there?” I said as i wondered what is up with Shawna, “Don’t fool around with me babe!”
My living room became cold all of the sudden as if the temperature had dropped significantly. My body started to shiver and my mouth clattered to keep my body warm. The sound of thunder outside was constant and it kept getting louder. Then, I heard a soft whisper on the line.
“I…ca..can’t hea..r,” I struggled with my speech. I felt like I was at the North Pole. I tried my best to listen hard to what whoever on the line is trying to tell me.
“Beware,” I heard, “they are after you.” The lady, definitely not Shawna, had an eerie voice, subtle and soft, yet very stern. I became alarmed. Not only to the voice, but to my surrounding as well. All this was incredibly unreal.
“Wh..Who is…coming?” I asked, still clattering and shivering. Tired of standing, I sat on the sofa, grabbed a small pillow and hugged it tightly. “Who…are you?”
Just as it had gotten cold, my place started to warm up again and back to its original temperature. My body got used to the change instantly, which was weird. Then, i stared at the phone and put it down. My mind panicked and my body stiffened. A lot of questions was runnig throught my head, and the warning given to me, it made me drift back to the nightmare I had last night.
“Coincidence?” I thought to myself. I had a terrible premonition of what to happen next but decide to ignore it. Still, my mind wouldn’t keep itself off the incident.
The evening sky was looking beautiful. The sunset made the sky red and orange. A spectacular sight. I was standing on the front porch, admiring the scene when I heard my name being called out.
